Can your todo list app do that?

Next time you’re planning to buy groceries, can I suggest that instead of tapping them into your phone, maybe using a list app, that you find some paper, or a notebook and pen?

You see, when you let your 7 year old son write the shopping list, a number of things can happen.

You share the experience of doing work together. You decide between the two of you, what you are going to need to cook and eat and to think about the ingredients.

He feels that he has a specific role in this job with his dad, that of list writer, pen and notebook guardian and head of crossing off.

He learns to single task, using a tool that won’t constantly need turning back on and that won’t notify him of something unrelated to the shopping list.

And you get to experience the cool artwork and doodles that he decided to add to the page, making “loo roll” and “blue milk” part of a strange tale involving a cast from Bendy and the Ink Machine.
